Shahbaz, Taseer hold first meeting in 10 months

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, during his current 10-month stint, held his first meeting with Governor Salman Taseer on Tuesday when he reached the Governor’s House to attend the oath-taking ceremony of Justice Khwaja Mohammad Sharif as chief justice of the Lahore High Court.

The chief minister, who called on the governor before start of the ceremony, in fact, visited the Governor’s House after 10 months. He had earlier been here to take oath of his office as the 21st chief minister of the province in June 2008.

Chief minister’s senior adviser Sirdar Zulfikar Khosa, law minister Rana Sanaullah Khan and senior minister and PPP Punjab parliamentary party leader Raja Riaz were also present during the meeting which lasted for about 20 minutes.

Officials said that the meeting held in a cordial atmosphere as the two sides discussed the prevailing political situation, besides exchanging pleasantries.
